ENRICO BRION
Enrico Brion's musical odyssey began in the vibrant jazz scene of the 1990s, where he honed his skills under the tutelage of luminaries like Paolo Birro and Marcello Tonolo. His quest for excellence led him to secure a scholarship for the Berklee College of Music seminars in Perugia- Umbria Jazz Clinics in 2000, marking a pivotal moment in his musical education.
At the Tartini Conservatory in Trieste, between 2003 and 2006, Brion delved deeper into the intricacies of jazz under the guidance of Glauco Venier and embarked on a journey of contemporary composition with Fabio Nieder. His thirst for knowledge led him to attend specialized seminars with renowned figures such as Kenny Wheeler, Roswell Rudd, and Franco D'Andrea, among others.
Further enriching his musical palette, Brion pursued advanced studies at the Venezze Conservatory in Rovigo, refining his writing for jazz orchestra under the mentorship of Massimo Morganti.
As a pianist and composer, Brion's artistic endeavors have spanned decades, characterized by creativity and innovation. In the 1990s, he collaborated with journalist-writer Giacomo Scotti on multimedia shows, laying the groundwork for his eclectic style.
The early 2000s witnessed Brion's emergence as a prolific composer, with commissions for the Comiter Choir of Scorzè and the inception of the Myfavoritìngs festival of original music. In collaboration with trombonist Toni Costantini, Brion founded the Orchestra Componibile, a dynamic ensemble dedicated to music writing and improvisation.
Brion's creative prowess garnered acclaim, with recognition as a finalist at the Barga Jazz International Big Band Composition Competition in 2015. His collaborations extended beyond music, as evidenced by his contributions to the feature film "E oggi come va?" by director Nadine Birghoffer in 2023. Also in 2023 with Adriano Iurissevich and dancer-choreographer Laura Moro, he staged Italo Calvino's The Distance of the Moon, a staged reading with original music and dance. Calvino's The Cosmicomics is also the inspiration for an entire recording work for small orchestra. As an arranger, he works with Zvuk Rec Studio (Noale - VE).
Brion's passion for music extends to education, as he has been imparting knowledge and nurturing talent since 2000. From music schools in the province of Venice to online platforms, Brion's teaching encompasses composition, creative harmony, improvisation, and conduction.
In response to the challenges of the pandemic, Brion embraced digital platforms, launching the Armonia Canaglia YouTube channel—a playful yet educational series on tonal harmony.
Brion's discography is a testament to his versatility and creativity, with a diverse array of solo and collaborative projects. From the introspective melodies of "Elisewin" (2003) to the innovative sounds of "AstroCo(s)micOrk" (2024) with a 10-instrument ensemble, Brion's music captivates and inspires.
His collaborations with Orchestra Componibile and other esteemed musicians have yielded captivating works, enriching the musical landscape with each composition. He also recorded two unreleased work with the band Tania del Circo.
